Mountain Mag Camera App Privacy Policy

Effective Date: July 18, 2026
App: Mountain Mag Cam
Owner: Epoch Outdoors LLC

Epoch Outdoors LLC ("we," "our," "us") values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Mountain Mag Cam handles information when you use the app.

The Short Version

  • We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or password. There are no accounts.
  • Your photos and videos stay on your device. We never see them.
  • We collect a small amount of anonymous usage and crash data so we can keep the app working well.
  • Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat using an anonymous identifier.
  • We do not sell data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.

Information You Provide

None. The app does not require an account, sign-in, or any personal details. If you email us for support, we will see your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we use it only to help you.

Information Collected Automatically

Usage and Crash Analytics (PostHog)

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand basic app usage and to catch crashes and errors. This includes:

  • App lifecycle events, such as when the app is installed, opened, or updated.
  • Crash and error reports, so we can find and fix bugs.
  • Basic technical information: device model, iOS version, and app version.
  • A randomly generated anonymous identifier that is not connected to your name or any personal details.

Analytics requests, like most internet traffic, include your IP address, which can indicate an approximate location such as your country or city. We do not collect your precise location for analytics, and we do not use analytics data for advertising.

Purchases and Subscriptions (RevenueCat)

Optional Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple. Apple processes your payment; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to know whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, purchase receipt information from Apple, and subscription status. This identifier appears as your "Support ID" in the app's Settings and is not linked to your name.

Camera, Microphone, and Photos Access

Mountain Mag Cam is a dedicated digiscoping camera app. To function properly, the app may request access to:

  • Camera to capture photos and videos through your optics.
  • Microphone if you choose to record video with sound.
  • Photos/Media Library to save captures to your device and to let you view or share them from your library.

All photos, videos, and related media remain on your device. We do not transmit, store, or view your media on our servers.

Location

The app includes an optional Location Tags feature. If you turn it on, your device's GPS coordinates are embedded in the metadata of your photos, the same way the built-in Camera app does. This happens entirely on your device. Location data is never sent to us. You can turn the feature off at any time in Settings. Keep in mind that if you share a photo with location tags, the coordinates travel with the file.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell or rent any data.
  • We do not show ads or use advertising SDKs.
  • We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, or precise location.
  • We do not link any collected data to your identity.

Service Providers

We share the limited data described above only with the services that make the app work:

These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own advertising.

Data Retention and Your Choices

Anonymous analytics and subscription records are retained by our service providers for as long as needed to operate the app. Because this data is not linked to your identity, we usually cannot identify which records belong to you. If you want the data associated with your device deleted, email us your Support ID (shown in the app's Settings) and we will delete the associated analytics and subscription records with our providers. Deleting the app removes all locally stored settings and media access.

Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data Security

The small amount of data we collect is transmitted over encrypted connections. Your media never leaves your device through the app. We recommend protecting your device with a passcode or biometric lock to keep your media secure.

Changes to This Policy

If our practices change (for example, if we add optional features that collect new types of data), we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, notify users in the app or on our website.
